BCCI, IPL Media Rights: These 4 special things of IPL media rights auction, BCCI got rich


New Delhi: The auction for the media rights of the Indian Premier League (for 2023 to 2027) has now entered its third day. In the auction held so far, bids have been made for the rights of Group A and Group B. Group A has TV rights for the Indian subcontinent while Group B has digital rights for the Indian subcontinent. Both these rights of the second auction were sold for 44075 crores. In such a situation, let us know some special things of the auction held on the second day-

1. Rights of TV and Digital

23575 crore bid for TV in Indian subcontinent in media rights auction. At the same time, BCCI has got 20500 crores for digital rights. According to reports, ‘Star’ has got the TV rights while the digital rights have gone to Viacom18. However, no official announcement has been made regarding this. Which rights have gone to whom it will be announced on Wednesday.

2- There was great expectation from digital rights

It was expected from the auction for media rights that the BCCI would get more money from digital as compared to TV, but this did not happen. The first day of the auction ended at 19680 for digital. In the second day’s auction, there were speculations that there would be competition among the companies to get it, but it did not happen and it stopped at just 20500 crores.

3-Big increase in the price of each match

With the auction of media rights, the BCCI has decided to get a huge amount for each match. BCCI will get more than 100 crores for each match from this auction. Combining TV and digital rights can go to 107.5 crores. On the other hand, if we talk about the last auction, then this amount was only 54 crores including both the rights.

4- BCCI will benefit more from Group C and Group D rights

A total of four groups have been decided by the BCCI for media rights, in which only Group A and B have been auctioned but after the auction of Group C and D, BCCI is expected to benefit more. Apart from this, the board is expected to get 1940 crores in the non-exclusive package. The non-exclusive will include the opening match of the IPL, the power play and the double header match.

Apart from this, BCCI is expected to get 1610 crores from the State of the World package. In such a situation, the board can get 3550 crores by combining these two packages.
