Bangalore: Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 100 runs as Mumbai made 260 for five in the Ranji Trophy semi-finals at the end of day’s play on Tuesday. Jaiswal hit 15 fours in his innings of 227 balls. He made three half-century partnerships during this period. He put on 63 for the third wicket with Suved Parkar (32), 83 for the fourth wicket with the running in the rhythm Sarfaraz Khan (40) and 63 for the fifth wicket with wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore (51 not out). Put the team in a better position.

Uttar Pradesh captain Karan Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl, which was proved right by fast bowler Yash Dayal (2 for 35) by sending Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw to the pavilion without opening the account. Shivam Mavi (1 for 29) then gave Uttar Pradesh a second breakthrough by dismissing Armaan Jaffer (10 runs) in the 15th over of the innings.

Parkar, who scored a double century on his debut in the previous match, was once again on his way to play a big innings but Dayal ended his 98-ball innings by getting him caught by Sourav Kumar. Jaiswal was batting carefully from the other end and he completed his half-century by taking a run in the 150th ball of his innings.

Sarfaraz Khan hit five fours during his 52-ball innings and accelerated the team’s run-rate. He, however, lost his wicket in the process of applying a reverse sweep against Karan Sharma (2 for 39). Jaiswal found good support from Tamore after that and both did not give much chances to the Uttar Pradesh bowlers.

Jaiswal completed his second century of first-class cricket in the 226th ball of the innings. However, he was caught by the wicketkeeper on the very next ball of Karan Sharma. At the end of the day’s play, Shams Mulani was batting after scoring 10 runs with Tamore.
