Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal also managed to move up in the bowlers’ rankings. Fast bowler Bhuvneshwar has moved up seven places to 11th while leg-spinner Chahal has moved up four places to 26th. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood has regained his number one spot in the T20 bowling rankings, while Sri Lanka’s Mahish Thekshana has moved up 16 places to eighth.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has moved up to third place in the Test rankings behind compatriot Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin remains in second place. Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin continue to occupy the top two spots in the all-rounders’ list. Rohit and Kohli are seventh and tenth respectively in the Test batting rankings while England’s Joe Root has climbed to the top after scoring his second consecutive century in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship series against New Zealand. Root is now five ratings points ahead of Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne.
Root, who scored 176 runs in the first innings of the Nottingham Test, has 897 points. Root’s compatriot Jonny Bairstow and captain Ben Stokes have also benefited. Bairstow’s 136 from 92 balls helped England win the last day by five wickets.
Bairstow has moved up 13 places to 39th on the back of this brilliant innings while Stokes has moved up from 27th to 22nd. Chasing the target, he played an unbeaten innings of 75 runs.
