Indian cricket team all-rounder Hardik Pandya is going through the best phase of his career. Hardik has recently been given the captaincy of Team India for the tour of Ireland. Earlier, under his captaincy, Gujarat Titans won the Indian Premier League 2022 title. However, it was not easy for him at all. There was a time when it was said that the career of this budding all-rounder was over.

This is the same Hardik Pandya who was once compared to the World Cup winning captain and India’s great all-rounder Kapil Dev but there came a time when he was left out of the Indian team due to frequent injuries. After this, five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians also lost faith in Hardik, but he did not give up. After that he worked hard on his fitness and what a great comeback.

In such a situation, let us know about the turning points of Hardik Pandya’s career from where he has put himself in front of the world in a new avatar-

Hardik’s entry in Mumbai Indians

Hardik Pandya made his debut for Mumbai Indians in the year 2015 for Royal Challengers Bangalore. This was the first time the world had seen this slim body all-rounder in full view. In the very first match, Hardik showed such color in his batting, which made it clear that he is going to prove to be the trump card for Mumbai. He faced just 6 balls in which he scored 16 runs with two sixes.

Since then he played seven consecutive seasons for Mumbai in which he also played an important role in making the team champion. What was then, he got the reward of consistently best game in the form of T20 in Team India. The very next year after his IPL debut, he was included in the team on the tour of Australia.

After T20, after ODI and then after Test, now he has also traveled to become the captain of the team. In such a situation, it can be said with certainty that playing for Mumbai Indians proved to be the biggest turning point of Hardik’s career.

Lower back injury in Asia Cup

Hardik’s career graph was rising rapidly but suddenly the injury eclipsed him. The injury was such that he could not walk off the field on his feet. His injury emerged in the 2018 Asia Cup match against Pakistan. Hardik’s injury was so severe that he could not even stand on his feet. He was taken off the field on a stretcher due to a lower back injury.

That time was full of difficulties for Hardik but he did not give up. Had surgery on the lower back and worked hard to regain fitness. Hardik came back on the field once again after recovering from injury but he did not appear in his old complexion. Keeping the injury in mind, he could contribute for the team only as a batsman. Due to his absence from bowling, questions were also raised about his place in the team and then there came a time when he was dropped from the team due to re-injury. However, overcoming all these difficulties, he made a strong comeback and now he will captain the team on the Ireland tour.

Captain’s debut in IPL with title win

Mumbai Indians also lost faith in Hardik due to constant injury. The mega auction was to be held after IPL 2021. Earlier, the franchise could retain four of its players but Mumbai did not get Hardik to return. For the 15th season of IPL, two new teams were added in which Gujarat Titans placed their bet on Hardik and appointed the captain of the team.

Under the captaincy of Hardik, IPL 2022 made a bang with a bang. The team finished its campaign in first place in the league stage by winning 10 out of 14 matches. After this, in the playoff also, the team won both their matches, which was also the final. In this way, Hardik presented a new avatar to the world by winning the title to Gujarat.
