While the country is in talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a relief package. People are forced to queue outside shops for hours to buy fuel and cooking gas.

Mahanama, who was part of the Sri Lankan team that won the World Cup in 1996, said, “We worked in petrol queues around Ward Place and Wijerama Mawtha to serve food to people. The queues are getting longer day by day and keeping the health of the people living in the queues has also become a challenge. Please, take care of each other in the fuel lines. Help each other in whatever way possible, so please reach out to the person closest to you and support.’
