IND vs SA: 206 runs, strike rate of 150, 32 boundaries… still why Nehra ji raised questions on Ishan Kishan’s game

New Delhi: Indian team’s young opener Ishan Kishan’s bat spoke fiercely in the T20 series against South Africa (IND vs SA). He scored more than 200 runs in the series. For the Indian team in the 5-match series, Ishaan scored 206 with the help of two half-centuries. During this his strike rate was 150 and average was 41. Ishaan scored 150 runs in the series from the boundary. No batsman has scored so many runs in the series. Heinrich Klaasen of South Africa was second with 118 runs.

Ashish Nehra not satisfied
Even after Ishan Kishan’s performance, Ashish Nehra, the coach of IPL 2022 champion Gujarat Titans, is not completely satisfied. He says statistics don’t always tell the whole story. He said, ‘Ishaan Kishan’s numbers in this series have been good, but numbers do not always tell the whole story. He has also played with a good strike rate, but it will not be easy for a player like him to do so consistently, especially in T20s.

Ashish Nehra says that Ishan Kishan’s runs were not impressive. He further said, ‘The runs he scored should be impressive. He scored 76 runs in the first match, but he did not look that comfortable. He would like to convert his start into a big score.

still room for improvement
Former India wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel said that Ishaan scored good runs but there is still room for improvement. He said- Ishan Kishan had scored more than 400 runs in IPL 2022. He did well in this series as well. But his fearless style did not show in the IPL. We got a glimpse of it against South Africa. It is always difficult to come back after facing criticism. He hit two sixes in the very first over in the 5th T20, which should be his way of moving forward when he gets a chance. He may be the leading run-scorer of the series, but there is still room for improvement.
