Kolkata: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) hired an astrologer for the Indian football team ahead of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. This information was given by an insider of the team. It is learned that the AIFF spent Rs 16 lakh on an astrology agency that it had hired to ‘motivate’ the national team.

The Sunil Chhetri-led team had qualified for the main tournament, finishing at the top of their group. A team insider said, “Ahead of the Asian Cup, a motivator was appointed for the national team. Later, it was found that the company with which the agreement was signed is a company related to astrology.

The source claimed, “An astrologer was appointed to motivate the team and a hefty Rs 16 lakh was paid for it.”
